Student Learning Labs
CETL helps support a number of labs that help extend the learning experience outside of the classroom. Learning labs include collaboration and experimentation spaces to help students expand their problem-solving capabilities. Maker spaces, with technologies for creating 3-D prototypes and testing ideas, are replacing traditional labs.
Creation and Technology Labs (CATLabs)
Students can find Windows and Mac computers, check out camera and multimedia equipment, use production and media software, get technical support and collaborate at a university Creation and Technology Lab (CATLab).
The Newton and Decatur offer STEM Labs to support student learning outside of class. Stem Core Support, 3D Printers, Graphic Calculators and Microscopes are available at STEM locations.
Coming Spring 2017: New Makers Space
A new open-access Maker Space is planned to open in the Arts & Humanities building in Spring 2017. The MakerSpace is being built to help student creativity and innovation thrive. It will be a shared workspace to facilitate student creation and collaboration. The MakerSpace will allow student makers and builders to join forces to conceptualize, prototype and collaborate on projects that solve problems and influence change. The MakerSpace will include equipment such as 3D printers and scanners, microcontrollers and microprocessers, gaming computers, virtual and augmented reality tools, machining tools and much more.
